The celebration for this year’s Buy Malawi Strategy is expected to boost Malawi’s economy at the same time creating more employment opportunities in the country.

President Peter Mutharika will be guest of honor at the event which will take place on April 13, 2018 at the Bingu International Conference Centre in Lilongwe.

Public Relations Officer in the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism, Wisikesi Mkombezi told YFM that they are looking forward to the big event.

“A lot has been done and the private and public sectors have been consulted.

“Apart from the exhibition which has been arranged by the private sector, we have also organized local performers who are going to showcase their talents at the event.

Mkombezi said there is need for a change of perception of Malawians on local products.

“By the end of this year’s celebration we would want Malawians to realize that now a days Malawian products are superior over imported goods and if Malawians are to maintain this perception, our economy will flourish and jobs will be created within the country,” he said.

The Buy Malawi Strategy was launched on April 4, 2016.
