Flames urged to work hard against Morocco

A sports analyst Higger Mkandawire, has called on the senior Malawi national soccer team to put much effort in Friday’s 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) qualifier against Morocco.

The Flames are set to play Morocco at Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe.

The Flames are already out of the race as they are anchoring the table in their group which is also composed of Cameroon and Comoros Island.

Mkandawire said despite being just a mere formality, the game is an advantage for the team to improve on FIFA ranking, a development which can attract other big teams to play friendly matches against the Flames.

“We cannot rule out that a team is out of race because football is a development and, when we say this match is important we look at different things such as FIFA ranking as well as improving players for 2021 AFCON,” the ex-Nyasa Big Bullets general secretary said.
