Kamlepo Kalua abandons PP

Outspoken Rumphi East Parliamentarian Kamlepo Kalua has announced his resignation from the opposition Peoples Party (PP).

Making his announcement through the Speaker of the National Assembly Catherine Gotani Hara, Kaluwa has accused the party of tribalism and losing direction.

In an interview with YFM, Kaluwa said he will be serving as an independent lawmaker in the next five years saying that he would like to a free man after working for a party which he described it as family based.

“The President takes this party as a survival kit, this why I decided to resign from PP because I am professional, I don’t want to work with a party that is more like family based, and I don’t want to work in a party where the President is everything,” he said.

Kaluwa said the party is lacking vision on its political future and that it will not be active on the country’s political scene.

“PP is full of tribalism, they don’t want other tribes to belong to that Party, it’s a party of death and darkness, it’s doomed and it’s finished, this party will not see it’s way,” .

The once controversial legislator told YFM that he has consulted his constituents about the move.
