Workers at Zomba City Council (ZCC) have gone on strike on Monday to demand payment of unremitted pension funds.

ZCC worker’s union president, Patrick Manyalo said they are also demanding provision of Covid-19 risk allowances when implementing initiatives in relation to the pandemic.

Manyalo said the council management has given a deaf ear to their outcries despite several engagements on the same.

ZCC Spokesperson Mercy Chaluma said management will discuss with the workers in order to address their grievances.
