Kokoliliko rally fails in Balaka

Members of Kokoliliko Youth Movement of the Malawi Congress Party (MCP) have been stoned in Liwonde when they stopped over to address people on their way to Balaka for a rally.

Speaking to YFM, lead person of the movement Daud Suleman said a crew suspected to be from the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) did the act.

“Everything started very well and mid way through our program we saw a guy on a motorbike which had flags of the DPP and UDF and after he sped off we saw huge stones come out of nowhere.”

Suleman however said, all Kokoliko members escaped unscathed.

The members failed to proceed to Balaka for their rally and are still in Liwonde waiting for the situation to stabilize.

“We had intelligence that they had mounted a roadblock at Puma Filling station and another one at Mangochi turn-off, so the road was impassable.”

He has since called on the youth to stop perpetrating violence and respect other people’s freedom of association.
