Malawi’s covid-19 cases rise to 273

Malawi has registered 70 new cases of Covid-19, bringing the number of cases to 273.

Making the announcement at a press briefing in Lilongwe, Presidential Task Force on Covid-19 Co-Chairperson, Dr John Phuka said most of the people who have tested positive have travelling history and only a few were through local transmission.

He further said that 140 tests have also been sent to the laboratory for testing and results are expected to be out by Saturday morning.

According to the Ministry of Health, as of Friday, Malawi had registered 227 active covid-19 cases, 42 recoveries and four deaths.

A total of 4266 people have been tested for covid-19.
