Analyst hails sentencing of ex-MP

Social analyst Lucky Mbewe has described sentencing of former legislator Anderson Undani and his personal assistant Pangani Nazombe over corruption as a clear message to other parliamentarians.

On July 13, 2020, the Zomba Magistrate Court sentenced Undani and Nazombe to 18 months and 12 months imprisonment with hard labour respectively for corruption.

The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) established that Undani abused project materials purchased with Constituency Development Funds at Zomba District Council meant for projects in his constituency.

Mbewe has since commended the judiciary for ensuring the rule of law and further urged the current legislators to desist from corruption when managing various public funds.
