As soccer fraternity continues to express excitement over the achievement made by the country’s international striker, Gabadinho Mhango, following his Golden Boot Award in the South African Premier Soccer League (PSL), Football Association of Malawi (FAM) president, Water Nyamilandu, has joined the bandwagon by describing him as “a true ambassador of Malawian football.”
Comments are pouring in after Mhango tied with Peter Shalulile of Highlands Park at 16 goals to share the award.
In a letter addressed to the Orlando Pirates star, Nyamilandu said he is excited to extend his most profound congratulations and best wishes to him for his recent award.
Reads part of the letter: “This is no mean achievement. You have made history as the first Malawian and also the first Orlando Pirates player since 2002/3 to win the PSL Golden Boot Award.”
Nyamilandu further described the prolific striker’s withstanding performance at Malawi National team and Orlando Pirates as “a great inspiration to many.”
The country’s State Vice President, Saulos Chilima, on Saturday also hailed Gaba for the award saying this is a great achievement not only for him but for the country as well.
Mhango has played club football for Brave Warriors and Big Bullets at local level.
He later went to South Africa where he played for Bloemfontein Celtic, Lamontville Golden Arrows and Bidvest Wits before signing for Pirates in June 2019.
