The Federation of Disability Organizations in Malawi (Fedoma) says it expects that the 2021/2022 budget meeting at Parliament will have improved allocations towards the welfare of persons with disabilities in Malawi.
Speaking to YONECOFM Fedoma Executive Director Symon Munde said the budget should seriously consider the operationalization of the disability trust fund and issues of inclusive education among others.
“We are also expecting that they will ensure the functionalities of the Malawi Against Physical Disability (MAP) and increase allocation onĀ issues pertaining to persons with albinism.
The budgetary meeting will be opened by President Lazarus Chakwera on 12 May 2021 and is expected to close on 2 July 2021.
According to Parliamentary spokesperson Ian Mwenye the meeting will be held in line with the ministry of health and parliament of Malawi Covid-19 Preventive measures.
