ISAMA faults schools over JCE candidates’ demos

By Esnart Chingwalu

Independent Schools Association of Malawi (ISAMA) has condemned a tendency by some private schools that use Malawi National Examination Board (MANEB) examinations to source school fees balances from students.

ISAMA president Wycliff Chimwendo was reacting to the recent incident in Lilongwe where some form two students conducted protests after being exempted from sitting in the Junior Certificate of Education (JCE) examination which commenced on August 2, 2022 due to school fees balances.

Chimwendo said the tendency is uncalled for and is likely to disturb student’s performance at large.

“It’s unfortunate that certain school directors would take issues of school fees with MANEB examinations, we always urge our members to find other means of collecting fees from students earlier before the exams,” Chimwendo said.

“I remind such schools that all materials to do with examinations such as the students Identity Card are MANEB properties hence should be made available to students in time.”
