A 24-year-old man in Dowa will spend the next seven years in prison for defiling 15-year-old Standard 8 learner.
Feston Wilson on March 15, 2022, followed the girl to the garden where she went to harvest bananas and demanded to have sexual intercourse with her of which she denied since they are related.
However, Wilson pushed the girl down and defiled her.
The issue came to light after the accused person’s wife found the two at the scene.
In mitigation, the convict asked the court for leniency, saying he is a breadwinner to his family.
In his submission, state prosecutor Inspector Christopher Daluni asked the court to melt out a stiff sentence to the offender as a warning to other would-be be offenders.
