Minister of Information and Digitalization Moses Kunkuyu has reaffirmed Malawi’s commitment to becoming a fully digitalized nation.
Speaking in Mwanza during the handover ceremony of a newly renovated and fully equipped computer laboratory, Kunkuyu emphasized that Malawi must embrace technological advancements to remain competitive globally.
The facility, upgraded at a cost of K150 million by the Malawi Communications Regulatory Authority (MACRA), aims to enhance digital access in the district.
MACRA Board Chairperson Alekeni Menyani highlighted the organization’s dedication to empowering the public in an era of rapid technological change.
Mwanza District Council Chairperson, Emanuel Kapawe, said the new infrastructure will boost local trade, improve e-ticketing systems, and enhance the Integrated Financial Management Information System (IFMIS).
Mwanza Central Member of Parliament, Nicholas Dausi, whose constituency hosts the facility, urged the government to invest in similar digital infrastructure across the country to further bridge the technological divide.
The event also served as a belated commemoration of the 2024 World Post Day.
