HRCC backs Commission of Inquiry’s recommendation on Chizuma, Kayuni

Human Rights Consultative Committee (HRCC) has backed the recommendation by the commission of inquiry on Martha Chizuma’s arrest for President Lazarus Chkwera to take appropriate action on Chizuma and the suspended Director of Public Prosecution (DPP), Steven Kayuni.

Addressing Journalists in Lilongwe, HRCC Board Chairperson Robert Mkwezalamba said Chizuma should be disciplined in accordance with the law for alleged violation of oath of office in a leaked audio as recommended by the commission.

The grouping also called on Chakwera to act on Kauyini as recommended by the commission of inquiry adding that the two should not be treated as sacred cows.

HRCC has also asked government to investigate and bring to book a person to whom Chizuma disclosed office matters in a leaked audio.
